Cheerful Flower Cut Out Card

a cheerful flower card to send with a happy message

Here’s a happy flower card perfect to send with your choice of an upbeat message.

inside panel of flower card with yellowThe card is easily customized by choosing the color of the inside front panel. You can use any plain or printed stock for this panel. I’ve set up my card to fit an A2 envelope, so that front panel isn’t very big. That means you can get several panels from a sheet of paper.

The version I made uses a perky yellow panel made from simple construction paper. Today has been cloudy and gloomy, so I’m hoping it will bring a little sunshine into someone’s life.

House Divided: Packers vs. Cowboys Faux Credential

Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys credentials

As mentioned elsewhere, I really like to make faux credentials for holidays and other events. It makes our simple celebrations seem more big time.

Today’s NFC North Divisional Playoff Game features the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. At our house, our allegiances are divided.  One of us is from Wisconsin. And the other grew up in West Texas, where it practically required by law to be a Cowboys fan.

I whipped up a set of faux football credentials for the game. This time I added icons to the backs to show the “services” that were included (parking, hotel, kitchen service, free bar, etc.)

A couple of links I found eye-catching this week

  • Web cams at Yellowstone national park – probably better in spring and summer but still kind of neat.
  • With a great coupon code from a co-worker we tried Hello Fresh last summer. This stir fry tofu dish is similar to one of the meals we received.
  • I’m a list maker so any new twist to grocery shopping catches my interest.
  • I recently finished Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project (not an affiliate link, so I really encourage you to check it out from the library) and it it she identifies herself as a person who needs to receive gold stars for work she has done. I’m in that category, but I also need my green stars from Fitbit. This older piece by David Sedaris made me laugh..

Healthier Onion Dip Mix

swap cottage cheese for sour cream for a healthier version of onion dip

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. But put me near the dip and chips, and watch out. I like it so much that we had to institute “Dip Mix Season” which runs from Thanksgiving Day to New Year’s Day. There are two additional periods of legal dip mix use- Super Bowl Weekend and Daytona 500 weekend. Consuming dip outside of those calendar dates is frowned upon.

This past year, I stumbled upon an idea to make dip mix healthier. Not healthy. Just a little less bad. The easy swap was using cottage cheese for sour cream.
