Every year I somehow stumble upon The #100 day project.

And every year I swear I’m going to do it … next year.

I’ve talked before about how I am no fan of summer. The entire season is too hot, sticky and buzzy buggy for my tastes. For unknown reasons, I never noticed all the marketing around the concept of 99 days of unofficial summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), but this year I saw it and it really sparked something …

If a 100-day project appears to daunting to join, how about a 99-day “tester” project. It’s like “charm pricing” – you know where $3.00 is too much to pay for something but if it’s $2.99 just take my money?

And thus, the SuzerSpace 99 Days of Summer Drawing Ordinary Objects Edition project launched.

Mini Bullet Journal Planners

New Year, New Planner - Mini Minimalist Bullet Journal Planners | SuzerSpace

If it’s January at SuzerSpace then it’s a pretty safe bet that I’m trying out some new planner/journal configuration.

There’s a concept called “planner peace” which suggests you’ll keep hunting and searching for the perfect planner – the one that you enjoy working with, that also keeps you all super organized, happy and bestows magical powers on all who see it. Just kidding about that last part. And actually, just kidding about all of the parts – I don’t actually believe that planner piece has as end point.

I think it’s like searching for the perfect shoes, perfect hand bag or perfect ProCreate brush – most of the fun is in the hunting.

For this year, I’m trying out a mashup of an idea I hadn’t seen since sixth grade (the single sheet ‘zine) and an idea I tried before but didn’t stick with (the bullet journal).

Happy Bats for Halloween

This year, as I was cutting a new monster for my front window, I remembered that I had pinned another project that I wanted to do for Halloween.

But when I thought about it, making all those pieces and crawling around on my stairs didn’t sound like that much fun. Plus, I’d need to clean the stairs of all the dust and cobwebs. And then I saw this post on Instagram, and realized that a) I did not need to clean, and b) I could just put happy bats all over my stairs and it would be just as cute and my knees would thank me for it.

Bats have made several appearances at SuzerSpace, so I don’t think you’ll be surprised to find they are back for this year’s Halloween.

Birthday Punch Card

At SuzerSpace, we celebrate birthdays for the entire month. That let’s the birthday person feel extra special, and it also allows for real life to set in.

We can work special treats, shopping trips and meals in and around work responsibilities, bad weather or just grumpy moods.

A couple of years ago I added in the craft of creating a special punch card, which makes for a ceremonial start to each day, as we “punch in” for the event.

Pictured up top of this post is the remnant of this year’s – we went a little crazy and punched some extra spots, but you get the general idea.

Fourth of July Cake Topper

Because July is my birthday month, I like to celebrate every day of it.

It’s super handy that right at the beginning is a National Holiday, complete with popsicles, parades and fireworks.

Which naturally leads to … crafting!

You’ve seen those super cute and or super pretty cake toppers on Pinterest and Etsy, of course? If you have a cutting machine like a Silhouette Cameo, or Cricut, they are very easy to make yourself. I think it would be possible to do these by hand, but pretty tedious, so I’m going to leave that decision up to you if you don’t have a cutting device.

But if you do, I have a present for you – a free zip file that contains the most common formats so you can make your own.

Click the graphic to the left for the download (do it on your computer, not a mobile device) and then unzip the file and using your particular cutting machine software, upload the appropriate file.
