For the term "planner".

What’s on my worktable for January 2020

What I'm working on for January 2020 | SuzerSpace.com

For 2020 I’m working on some new goals, and to document them I’m switching up my “hello this month” posts to this new format.

I’m including links to help you if you might be on a similar path.  Some of these links may be affiliate, which means I’ll earn a small commission at no cost to you. My full disclosure policy is here.

I’m working on three areas each month

  1. Learning a new skill or stretching to improve an existing skill
  2. Reading more (instead of low quality scrolling social media)
  3. Diving deep into a new topic each month on Skillshare
What I’m working on January 2020:

New or improved skill – I’m working a doodling challenge. The Petite Planner has a You Tube channel with a free doodling challenge for 30 days of Bullet journal doodles. I don’t actually keep a bullet journal, but I love to doodle and want to get better at it, and practice is always the answer.

Speaking of practice, the super good hand lettering class that I did two years ago is starting up again – the first month is completely free and there’s no obligation to continue (although fair warning –  I became completely hooked and couldn’t quit).  Sign up here.

For January 2020 reading I have Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World – and Why Things Are Better Than You Think by  Hans Rosling downloaded from the library. It was on a summer reading list From Bill Gates.

On Skillshare, I’m taking a deep dive into product photography this month. If you aren’t familiar with it, Skillshare is kind of a Netflix for online learning. You pay for a subscription, and that gives you access to as many classes as you’d like, and you can even watch them over and over if you want. If you use this link, you can sign up for a free trial of two months. Like many trials, you’ll need to set up an account, but as long as you cancel before the trial runs out, you won’t be charged anything.

Your turn –

How about you – working on anything interesting this month?

Create a Shaped Sticker From An Image

Create a Shaped Sticker from any image using the Print and Cut feature of Silhouette Studio | SuzerSpace

If you’ve been down the planner/planner accessory rabbit hole on Pinterest lately, you are probably aware that planner stickers are a big thing.

Buy the cutfile at suzerspace.etsy.com

It’s super easy to make your own if you have a cutting machine, and once you know the process for making a shaped sticker, you can make one from just about any piece of artwork you can create, find or buy.

In this tutorial, I’m using the free version of Silhouette Studio software.

I’m sure Cricut users can do the same thing – you’ll just need to look around in the software to find the matching menus.

Custom Index Tab Dividers

Create custom index tab dividers for your planner or bullet journal with no special cutting machines or punches | suzerspace.com

I’m pretty embarrassed that it took me so long to realize that what my planner/bullet journal hybrid really needed was a set of custom index tab dividers.

Embarrassed for two reasons –

1) I consider myself a pretty organized person, and the key to organization is everything needs a place, and labeling the places is most of the fun!

and

2) I work at a company that specializes in index tabs, binders and presentation folders.

I think the saying is the cobbler’s children have no shoes?

Anyway, once I realized I wanted tab dividers, I had two choices – have someone at work make them for me the actual professional way, or make them myself.

Not wanting to waste a work favor, I decided to make my own.

Sunday Scrolling: January 29, 2017

  • Craft room envy big time, but there are pieces here that could be incorporated into any spot big or small.
  • I’ve been reading Smitten Kitchen for years. So I’m happy for her about her big announcement. And fearful she’ll jump the shark and become another plasticized Food Network celeb that makes things no one would cook.
  • Little notepads are my thing. And this one features a free printable for weekly planning.
  • We don’t really eat sweets,  but this quick idea was so cute I could resist sharing it.

A couple of links I found eye-catching this week

  •  The Turquoise Home has been running a great series – 30 Days to Less of a Hot Mess. I’ve been working for several months on my basement, and this technique for clearing a room has a few nice twists.
  • This beautiful wreath is definitely on my “must make” list.
  • This dinosaur project looks like easy fun.
  • I have a thing for planners and calendars, and even though I never really use them, that won’t stop me from looking/pinning.
  • It’s been cold and foggy all week here in Kansas City, which sounds like soup time!
